Panels engineered to match the campus around them.
The building's ultra-high-performance concrete panels required design-build deferred approval engineering and shop drawings before a single panel could be made.
The panels also carried a custom finish that had to match the existing campus panels, including their exposed aggregate, so the new building read as part of the campus.
How Caston Built It
The approach that kept the date
Engineered under deferred approval
Caston ran design-build deferred approval engineering and produced the shop drawings for the UHPC panel system.
Custom finish matching
The panel finish was developed to match the existing campus panels, exposed aggregate included.
Eleven scopes, one team
Framing, fireproofing, carpentry, plaster, acoustical plaster, UHPC panels, scaffolding, sheet metal, drywall, fire protection specialties, and air barriers ran through Caston.
Envelope and interior together
The same team responsible for the panels also built the walls behind them, so tolerances held across the whole assembly.
